Calbourne Isle Of Wight visitor guide and tourist information Calbourne is one of the most unspoilt villages
on the Island and well worth a visit. There is a sloping green at
its centre beside an ancient church which dates back to AD 826. A
pretty row of houses known as Winkle Street looks on to a stream
from where the village gets its name the Caul-Bourne where it used
to power five mills to the north. At the entrance to Winkle Street
is a lodge and drive leading to Westover House, a privately owned
manor house which stands on a hill overlooking Calbourne. |
